How to Pack Books & Magazines

Follow these easy tips to help the packing process go as smoothly as possible for your books and magazines.

This video demonstrates how to professionally pack books and magazines for a move. Whether you're moving locally or long distance -- you'll want to pack your library carefully to prevent damage.

Key Concepts:

✓ How to pack books, magazines and binders.

✓ Make sure the boxes are full and stable.

✓ Don't overload boxes, keep the weight down for safety.

Tips and Tricks

1. Fill the boxes as completely as possible.

Pack your book boxes as neatly and as completely as you can to ensure they don't move around in the box and to keep the boxes strong and stable.  Books that bounce around in the truck are prone to damaged binding.  Typically the order does not matter, so pack things as tightly without worrying too much about weight distribution.

2. Don't overpack your box! Boxes should be under 40 pounds for personal safety and for the safety of your items.

Books are heavy! Packing things in a stable way will help them stay safe throughout the process.  However, they should not be too heavy to move around or to be stacked on top of other boxes in the truck.  Keeping the weight down is safer for the books and your back.
