DN Van Lines gave me a great quote for a recent move from the North Shore to MetroWest. They were friendly and courteous when I discussed it with them and did what was agreed upon in a timely manner. The owner of the company called me personally to check that everything was hunky dory. I'm happy with them.
Kensington MD Movers: Local, Long-Distance & Commercial Moving Services
Movers Kensington MD trust for local, long-distance & commercial moves in this historic Victorian town. Packing, storage & free estimates.
Kensington is a small, historic town in Montgomery County, incorporated in 1894 after DC developer Brainard Warner bought land here to build a planned Victorian garden suburb, naming it after the London neighborhood he'd recently visited. The Kensington Historic District has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980, and the town is still full of Queen Anne, Shingle, Eastlake, and Colonial Revival homes from that era. Kensington is also home to the Noyes Library, built in 1897 as one of the nation's first libraries built specifically for children, and to Kensington Antique Row, widely considered the largest and oldest antiquing district in the DC metro area. DN Van Lines has extended its Maryland coverage to movers Kensington MD relocations, and a move here can mean anything from a century-old Victorian in the historic district to a home in one of the surrounding neighborhoods that share the Kensington zip code.
Local Moving Services in Kensington, MD
Kensington's original town core is tiny, just half a square mile, with narrow, curving streets laid out in the 1890s and homes with original Victorian architectural details, while the broader Kensington zip code area extends into more conventional suburban neighborhoods housing roughly 18,000 people total. Antique Row and the area around the MARC train station see steady foot traffic and limited parking, which matters for scheduling a moving truck downtown. Our local moving services are planned around whether you're in the historic core or the surrounding area, since the two call for genuinely different approaches.
Long-Distance Moves From Kensington, MD
Kensington's MARC train access and proximity to Washington, D.C. mean a steady mix of long-distance moves tied to federal employment, contractor work, and career changes throughout the region. DN Van Lines operates branches in Northborough, Massachusetts, Sterling, Virginia, and Jacksonville, Florida, so a long-distance move from Kensington to any of those regions stays with one federally licensed carrier from pickup to delivery. See our full long-distance moving services for how interstate pricing and scheduling work.
Commercial & Office Moves in Kensington, MD
Kensington's small commercial core along Howard Avenue is built around Antique Row's dozens of shops, plus cafes and restaurants that depend on steady foot traffic. Our commercial and office moving teams schedule Kensington business relocations for off-hours to avoid disrupting that foot traffic, and coordinate IT disconnect/reconnect timing so systems are down for the shortest possible window.
Packing Services for Kensington, MD Homes
Kensington's Victorian-era homes often come with genuine antiques, stained glass, and original architectural details that call for custom crating rather than standard box-and-wrap treatment — not surprising in a town known for the DC area's biggest antique district. Our packing services cover exactly that, along with full-service pack/unpack for anyone who'd rather not spend a week wrapping glassware themselves.
Storage Options Near Kensington, MD
Not every Kensington move lines up neatly between a closing date and a move-in date, and our storage services cover that gap with short-term bridging storage, along with longer-term storage for anyone downsizing out of a larger historic home. All storage is climate-controlled, which matters for antiques and furniture common in Kensington's older housing stock, especially given how many homes in the historic district have stayed in the same family for generations.
Winter Moving Tips for Kensington, MD
Kensington's narrow, curving 1890s-era streets can get tight fast once snow piles up along the curbs, which makes early planning around parking more important here than in a newer, more open subdivision. Ice on older Victorian porches and steps is a real hazard for a crew carrying furniture, so we bring floor and threshold protection as standard on every winter move.
What Moving Day Looks Like With Kensington Movers
Our crews arrive within a confirmed window and walk the space with you first, noting fragile items and confirming the plan for stairs, tight streets, or historic-district parking before anything gets lifted. We lay down floor runners and door-jamb protection at both ends of the move, whether that's a Victorian home in the historic core or a house in the surrounding zip code area. Every shipment carries federally required valuation coverage at minimum, and we'll walk you through full-value protection options for higher-value items.
Serving Kensington, MD and Nearby Communities
Kensington sits in the heart of Montgomery County, close to several other communities we serve throughout the DC-Baltimore corridor. We regularly handle moves between Kensington and neighboring Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Rockville, and Aspen Hill — all a short drive from Kensington and served by the same Sterling-based fleet, so a short move between any of these communities doesn't add cost or complexity.

What Our Customers Say
Verified reviews from people who have moved with DN Van Lines.
I just completed a move from Boston to NYC, and I can't believe how stress-free DN made it. The communication was spectacular — courteous calls, warm confirmation check-ins, and timely 30-minute warning calls. The movers themselves were absolutely prepared and professional in both demeanor and expertise. They knew all the secrets that made the load and unload more efficient. I have zero regrets going with them — their high rating is absolutely earned.
What a wonderful experience! The moving team arrived on time and was efficient and polite. They wrapped all my large furniture in blankets and there was not a scratch on anything. They packed my kitchen with care. In the end the move cost me LESS than the quote I received. I HIGHLY recommend DN Van Lines.
The movers arrived on time and were polite, well spoken, and worked quickly. The office team was really helpful in making a reservation and responded quickly. All in all a great experience.
This past weekend we had a wonderful moving experience with DN Van Lines. Specifically, Brad and Gabriel were incredible — be sure to ask for them as a team! They were efficient, swift, and hard-working. More importantly, they treated our belongings with care and were kind and personable to boot.
When DN Van Lines gave me a time estimate for the move, I was thinking to myself ''They can't get it done that quickly, can they?'' Not only was the estimate accurate, but the movers actually came in UNDER the time estimate. Tony and Lou were fast, efficient, and easy-going. Nothing was broken, everything was placed where I asked. A+ all the way.
I've used these guys twice in two years for my previous moves. Everyone from the customer service reps to the movers is very professional, efficient, and super friendly. On my last move, they even took the time to assemble my bed and they even repaired my end tables which were always wobbly. I don't plan on moving for a few years, but next time I do, I'm calling these guys.
100% satisfied. Pedro, Ever, and Mayron were an excellent crew. Helpful, courteous, and polite. They worked well as a team and kept a quick pace during a 90 degree day. The crew also assisted with removing and reinstalling a railing and front door to allow furniture to make it into our home. Highly recommend.
