Worcester is the second-largest city in New England and the seat of Worcester County, sitting almost exactly halfway between Boston and Springfield. Known as the "Heart of the Commonwealth," the city is home to over 200,000 residents, ten colleges and universities, and neighborhoods ranging from triple-decker streets near downtown to quieter residential pockets on the city's hills. DN Van Lines' Auburn branch sits just minutes from Worcester's city line, and our crews handle moves in and out of the city every week — from single apartments near Clark University to full commercial relocations downtown.

Whether you're moving across town, across the state, or across the country, DN Van Lines has served Worcester and the surrounding county since 2003 as a federally licensed, fully insured, W-2-crewed moving company.

Local Moving Services in Worcester, MA

Worcester's housing stock is a genuine mix — dense triple-deckers near Main South and Green Island, single-family homes on the city's east and west hills, and student housing clustered around its colleges. Street parking can be tight in the denser neighborhoods, and several downtown streets require a parking permit for a moving truck to load or unload legally. Our local moving services are planned around Worcester's actual streets and building types — including securing permits ahead of time where the city requires them — rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Long-Distance Moves From Worcester, MA

Worcester's location at the junction of I-290, I-190, and the Massachusetts Turnpike makes it a practical starting point for a long-distance move in almost any direction. DN Van Lines operates branches in Sterling, Virginia, Maryland, and Jacksonville, Florida, so a long-distance move from Worcester to any of those regions stays with one federally licensed carrier from pickup to delivery. See our full long-distance moving services for how interstate pricing and scheduling work.

Commercial & Office Moves in Worcester, MA

As the county seat and the region's largest commercial hub, Worcester has no shortage of offices, medical practices, and small businesses that need to relocate without disrupting operations. Our commercial and office moving teams schedule Worcester business relocations for evenings and weekends, and coordinate IT disconnect/reconnect timing so systems are down for the shortest possible window — whether that's a small practice near UMass Memorial or an office move downtown near City Hall.

Packing Services for Worcester, MA Homes

Worcester's older housing stock — particularly its classic triple-deckers — often comes with narrow staircases, tight doorways, and older fixtures that call for custom crating rather than standard box-and-wrap treatment. Our packing services cover exactly that, along with full-service pack/unpack for anyone who'd rather not spend a week wrapping glassware themselves.

Storage Options Near Worcester, MA

Not every Worcester move lines up neatly between an old lease and a new one, and our storage services cover that gap with short-term bridging storage, along with longer-term storage for anyone downsizing out of a larger home. All storage is climate-controlled, which matters for the antiques and furniture common in Worcester's older housing stock, and it's available at our nearby Auburn and Northborough facilities.

Moving During Worcester's College Season

With Clark University, the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester State University, Assumption University, and Quinsigamond Community College all located in or near the city, late May and early September bring a genuine crunch on movers, rental trucks, and even parking spots near student housing. If you're moving during peak turnover — especially in neighborhoods near WPI or Clark — booking your date a few weeks ahead makes a real difference. We regularly handle moves for students and staff connected to Clark University, the College of the Holy Cross, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

What Moving Day Looks Like With Worcester Movers

Our crews arrive within a confirmed window and walk the space with you first, noting fragile items and confirming the plan for stairs, driveways, or tight doorways before anything gets lifted. We lay down floor runners and door-jamb protection at both ends of the move. Every shipment carries federally required valuation coverage at minimum, and we'll walk you through full-value protection options for higher-value items.

Serving Worcester's Neighborhoods

Worcester is really a city of neighborhoods, and we've built out dedicated coverage for several of them: Green Island, Vernon Hill, Quinsigamond Village, South Worcester, Great Brook Valley, and Greendale. Wherever your move falls in the city — Main South, Burncoat, Tatnuck, Elm Park, or elsewhere — the same Auburn-based crews and trucks handle it.

Serving Worcester and Nearby Communities

Worcester sits at the center of a tightly connected county, and we regularly handle moves between Worcester and its immediate neighbors: Auburn, Shrewsbury, Millbury, Holden, Leicester, and Grafton — all served by the same Auburn-based fleet, so a short move between any of these towns doesn't add cost or complexity.

Why Worcester Movers Choose DN Van Lines

DN Van Lines has been independently owned and operating in Massachusetts since 2003. Every mover on our trucks is a background-checked, W-2 employee — never day labor or an unfamiliar subcontracted crew. We're A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau, federally licensed under USDOT 1141917, and approved for Department of Defense and GSA relocations. Worcester Movers: Frequently Asked Questions

How much do movers in Worcester MA cost? Cost depends on the size of your move, distance, and building access — a triple-decker with narrow stairs takes longer to load than a single-family home with open parking. The most accurate way to get a number is a free estimate, which takes about a minute online.

Do I need a parking permit for a moving truck in Worcester? Some downtown and dense residential streets do require a temporary parking permit for a moving truck to load or unload legally. We can help confirm whether your street needs one before moving day.

Is Worcester a good place for a long-distance move? Yes — Worcester's position at the junction of I-290, I-190, and the Mass Pike makes it a convenient starting point, and our branches in Virginia, Maryland, and Florida mean a long-distance move stays with one carrier start to finish.

Do you handle student moves near Worcester's colleges? Yes, including moves connected to Clark University, WPI, and the College of the Holy Cross. Late May and early September are the busiest turnover weeks, so booking ahead is worth it.

Can you help with a move out of an older Worcester triple-decker? Yes — our crews are experienced with narrow staircases, tight doorways, and older fixtures common in Worcester's classic housing stock.

Do you offer short-term storage during a Worcester move? Yes, including climate-controlled short-term storage between closing dates at our nearby Auburn and Northborough facilities.

What Our Customers Say

Verified reviews from people who have moved with DN Van Lines.

The men sent to my house did an amazing job. They arrived on time and worked from 9 to 4:30. Their wrapping was exceptional. We had a different crew unload us because we moved out of state. They even commented the job was incredibly! Nothing broke and no scratches! My daughter is moving soon and I recommended her to use them! She is going to use them. Our coordinator Liz was amazing helping us through the process!

Incredible movers! Great communication throughout the entire process. Once they arrived at my new apartment the elevators broke!!! But the guys weren’t phased. They carried all my furniture and boxes up two flights of stairs without complaint or charging me extra!!! USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE INCREDIBLE!!!

Best moving company we have ever used. This is our second move in a year and we used them both times. We got completely different crews each time and both were phenomenal. No complaining about things being heavy, great care with all furniture and belongings, polite, very hard workers. They actually work the whole time they are there ( we have had others that stand around talking and taking many breaks). Pricing was very reasonable and coordination of the move with Tommie was very well communicated and clear! No surprises at the end like many moving companies. Highly highly recommend!

I have had my furniture in storage with them for 6+ years. I finally moved it to our second home in SC. They have gone far beyond my expectations on beholding my forever furniture. Liz was amazing on coordinating my move seamlessly. The movers were professional and so patient with me trying to find the right fit. I knew I had more furniture than I needed, Liz said no problem , send it back and they would donate it to women in need. I highly recommend them. A local business who takes care of their local clients and beyond. I thank them so very much!!
